A content calendar starts outside the calendar.
What to say, who to speak to and why: organise your brand’s ideas before deciding how often to publish.
The dates come later
Filling a calendar can make communication feel complete. But occupied slots do not explain what your audience needs to hear or why they should care.
We start with a question: what conversation does the brand need to have this month? It might explain a new service, answer recurring questions or show how the team works.
Collect real questions
Review enquiries from messages, meetings and forms. Look for repetition: what the service includes, how the process starts or what the client needs to provide.
Turn each question into a content idea. A short answer might become a post; an explanation that needs context could become an article. Choose the format after understanding the idea.
Give each piece a purpose
At Agave, we distinguish between content that introduces an idea, content that explains it and content that invites a next step. This helps us check whether the overall mix is balanced.
A finished project can explain a design decision. A frequently asked question can clarify a service’s scope. An invitation to talk can connect that explanation with a specific need.
Work with what you can sustain
Choose a frequency your team can maintain with the available materials and time. Agreeing on responsibilities, reviews and deadlines matters as much as selecting topics.
Before publishing, check that each piece has a clear idea, makes sense without internal context and links to the right place. Afterwards, collect the questions it generates: they can start the next calendar.
